The WCTRS-YI is a one-day conference run entirely by young researchers, providing them with experience in conference organisation and management. They will also attend the main WCTR-16 Montreal and have the opportunity to network with their peers and established researchers and practitioners, and will enjoy the full benefits of WCTRS membership.
The conference is run on the Sunday before the main WCTR, and is generally hosted in one room with a single theme and no parallel sessions. There is usually also a Question and Answer session with a senior Society member on career development, and at WCTR-16 there will the opportunity to run other sessions on career development to suit the needs of young members. The Young Researcher’s Conference is free, but participants must also attend the main WCTR-16.
The Conference will be run by a team of three volunteers:
These young researchers will manage the organisation of the conference, including the call for papers, choice of referees, conference programme, and a report after the event. They will be supported by two members of the WCTRS Steering Committee, and are currently awarded an honorarium of $1500 (USD) each, paid on the recommendation of the WCTRS-Y Leader after the successful completion of the YI activity.
Young Researchers will also participate in the conference in the following ways:
