WCTR Mumbai Special Sessions on Railway Station Redevelopment using PPPs

This Special Session will report on the new World Bank guidebook on innovative approaches to redeveloping railway stations and fostering enhanced understanding of railway station redevelopment. Speakers include project owners, concessionaires, rail operators, and government agencies: Shige Sakaki, World Bank; S.K. Lohia, Indian Railway Station Development Corporation; Giovanni Rocca, Ferrovie Dello Stato Italiane; Kate Matson, Public Transport Victoria (Australia); and Seiichiro Akimura, Japan International Consultants for Transportation.

The session will be chaired by Jonathan Gifford of George Mason University and will be held on Monday, May 27, 2019, 14:30-16:10, Prof. B. Nag Auditorium, VMCC, Session Gen_SS1), IIT Mumbai.

WCTRS SIG F3 Seminar on “Smart city, smart transport and Quality of Life”

The 3rd Tongji-WCTRS SIG F3 Seminar on “Smart city, smart transport and Quality of Life”

The seminar, jointly organised by the Organising Committee of the World Transport Research Conference and Tongji University,  focused on the theme of “Better mobility and quality of life”.  It was divided into three sub-forums: keynote speeches, challenges of urban planning and social impact, better mobility and quality of life. The purpose of the conference was to promote in-depth exchanges and discussions between academia and industry in the areas of smart cities, smart transportation and quality of life. The Conference triggered heated discussions among participants.

Establishment of Tongji-WCTRS World Transport Research Center, Shanghai, China

Tongji-WCTRS World Transport Research Center

On the afternoon of April 19, 2019, the founding ceremony of Tongji-WCTRS World Transport Research Center was successfully held at  the College of Transportation Engineering, Tongji University.  The aim of which is to cultivate students with international vision and cross-cultural exchanges, innovate the post-doctoral training mode, establish a post-doctoral training mechanism of linkage at home and abroad, improve the quality of post-doctoral training, and actively carry out international cooperation in scientific research.

Professor Ma Wanjing, Vice Dean of Transportation Engineering, presided over the inauguration ceremony, and Professor Fang Shouen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, delivered a congratulatory message for the establishment of the Center.

Pre-event to the annual International Transport Forum (ITF)/OECD Summit in Leipzig, Germany

Research Day around the Summit’s topic “Transport Connectivity for Regional Integration”

As a pre-event to the annual International Transport Forum (ITF)/OECD Summit in Leipzig, Germany, ITF will be hosting a Research Day around the Summit’s topic “Transport Connectivity for Regional Integration”.  The event will present the latest research evidence for policy makers, focusing on four specific areas: air transport, freight transport, transport innovation and sustainability.

ITF organises this day in co-operation with the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI), the US Transportation Research Board (TRB) and the World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS).
